Dodgers outfielder Andrew Toles out for season with torn ACL

The Dodgers outfield took another hit Wednesday with the news that Andrew Toles is done for the season with a torn ACL.

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said Wednesday Toles will Cheap Jerseys America have surgery on his right knee in about two weeks.

Toles was injured during the seventh inning of Tuesday’s game against the Pirates. Julio Urias took a no-hitter into the seventh inning, but it was broken up with Andrew McCutchen’s lead-off double to the left-field corner. As Toles gave chase, he pulled up lame before just before he got to the wall and the ball bounced into the stands for a ground-rule double.

“As we all know, Kang has had some issues,” Kim said at a press conference, via Yonhap. “So our coaching staff made this call (to drop him).”

The announcement came shortly after police in Seoul said they would seek an indictment against Kang, who is accused of leaving the scene of a DUI accident on Dec. 2. The 29-year-old eventually turned himself in to authorities. It was his third arrest on DUI charges, and his license was revoked.

The Pirates issued a statement after the incident last month saying they were “extremely disappointed in Jung Ho and in his decision process during this matter,” but no disciplinary measures have been announced by the team or MLB.

Kang also faces potential legal issues in Chicago, where he has been under investigation in connection with an alleged sexual assault in June. No charges have been filed in that incident.

NFL free agency: Mark Sanchez will sign with Bears, report says

The Bears released Jay Cutler on March 9, hours after finalizing a three-year contract for former Buccaneers quarterback Mike Glennon.

Connor Shaw, who spent his first two seasons with the Browns before joining the Bears last year, is the only other quarterback on the roster.

The Bears will soon add a third veteran as Mark Sanchez is finalizing a deal to join the Bears on a one-year contract, NFL Media reported Thursday.

The Bears could also select a quarterback in next month’s draft and probably will, though it’s unlikely they’d take one with the third overall pick with many other needs.

Rodriguez, who was behind the wheel, was uninjured. Giselle and the children, ages 2 and 8, were taken to area hospitals under varying conditions.

WSVN-TV in Miami reported Sunday night Giselle is listed in fair condition, while the children were both considered serious but stable.

“We are aware that Braves player Sean Rodriguez and his family were involved in a very serious car accident Saturday night in Miami, Florida,” the Braves said in a statement. “At this time, our thoughts and prayers are with the health and well-being of Sean’s family as they look to Cheap Google Jerseys recover.”

Miami-Dade police said one of their officer’s cruisers was stolen at a nearby restaurant. The suspect fled at a high rate of speed when he lost control of the cruiser, sideswiped a third vehicle traveling in the opposite direction, then stuck the Rodriguez family, according to WSVN-TV.

Watch: ‘Sound guy’ Greg Maddux throws Kris Bryant a curveball

“Snacks” Harrison was the best free-agent signing of 2016; he became a dominant pure inside run stopper. This year, Brandon Williams got more than Harrison to stay in Baltimore, although it was weird there was limited interest; more suitors could have further raised his value as the highest-paid nose tackle. Hankins, who played well next to Harrison, hasn’t been that hot of a name yet. Poe had a down year in Kansas City, but there’s no way a solid nose tackle like him should be lasting this long on the market. Good things will come to those teams that wait to get these two.

This one could go into the Prankster Hall of Fame.

Former Cubs and Braves star Greg Maddux, known during a Hall of Fame career as “Mad Dog,” added a new nickname to his resume — “Sound Guy” — as he got fellow Cubs star and Vegas native Kris Bryant in an offseason batting practice prank.

Bryant, under the impression he was doing a baseball workout video before leaving for spring training, instead first was bemused by the Red Bull video crew’s “Sound Guy” who offered “pine tar … hand sanitizer?” and eventually stepped in as a replacement BP pitcher who had Bryant laughing — “He’s pretty good” — not to mention off-stride with an assortment of curveballs.

Only after the “Sound Guy” asked for an autographed bat was Bryant clued in that the dude with the boom mic, long hair, mustache and goatee was, yes, Maddux, a.k.a. “The Professor,” and Cheap High Quality Soccer Jerseys Bryant had been schooled.

NFL Draft 2017: Leonard Fournette first running back off the board at No. 4 to Jaguars

Flowers was last released from a contract in 2014, and he signed a one-year deal with the Chargers that paid off big when they signed him to a $9.1 million-per-year contract just one season later. Since signing that contract, Flowers has missed 16 games, which makes him a question mark for any other team.

If Flowers is willing to give another shot on a low-cost, one-year contract, expect someone to give him a chance in the summer.

McCourty still being a free agent is an indication that he might be looking for too much money. While he did miss 12 games in 2015, he played in 14 games last year and had two interceptions. Now that the draft is over, more teams should seriously target McCourty. He’ll be signed as soon as a team is willing to convince him to come in at a reasonable price.

Leonard Fournette is going to Jacksonville.

The former LSU running back was selected Thursday by the Jaguars with the fourth overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft.

The Jaguars ranked in the bottom third in rushing offense last season and Fournette is the type of workhorse back they can use to take some pressure off quarterback Blake Bortles. Fournette was bothered by an ankle injury last year, but the 6-foot, 240-pound back still managed to average 6.5 yards per carry and score eight touchdowns. That came after he ran for 1,953 yards and 22 scores as a true sophomore.

He set LSU’s single-season record for rushing as a sophomore NFL Jerseys Paypal and left LSU as the school’s fourth-leading rusher with 3,830 yards and 40 touchdowns. Fournette is one of only two running backs in college football to post at least five 200-yard rushing games. Only Wyoming’s Brian Hill, who is expected to be a mid-round pick, has more.

We can figure out whether bringing the team back or blowing them up makes more sense once we get there.

We’ve seen plenty of criticisms of Westbrook’s style as a result. Some carried over from previous seasons. Others could be proved wrong with the same on- and off-court numbers used to praise his counterparts. But in they rolled regardless.

He’s too selfish. He shoots his team out of games. He doesn’t make his teammates better. His triple-doubles are overrated because a handful of them a game are gifted to him. His achievements are empty because the Thunder still lose games where he does incredible things.

Yet look at what this selfish, stubborn, short-tempered, inefficient, and reckless player gave this season. This Thunder team is only eight wins worse than last year. Westbrook took them to the playoffs and provided countless highlights every single game. He turned the season into an action movie full of explosions, drama, emotions, fights, rivalries, subliminal messages, dancing, self-aware commercials, and so much more. He made a No. 6 seed a must-see team.

Clippers head coach Doc Rivers, who also serves as president of basketball operations, said he wants to keep the team together no matter how the season ends. Certainly, with a 2-1 series lead over Utah and a win despite Griffin leaving, the Clippers’ chances in this series aren’t done yet. (It’ll take a superhuman effort from Chris Paul, but he provided that in Game 3, dropping 34 points and 10 assists.) Still, even if they got to the next round, they would have next-to-no chance against the Warriors.

We can figure out whether bringing the team back or blowing Cheap NFL Jerseys China them up makes more sense once we get there. For now, this is just another moment in the unlucky futility of the Clippers franchise.

Last playoffs, it looked like the Clippers might finally be the team catching a break.

NBA playoff scores 2017: We’re getting a Game 7 in round one thanks to the Clippers

Yes! We’re getting a Game 7 in the first round and we’re getting it from the Clippers and Jazz, the best series of the entire first round. The Clippers were able to win Game 6 on the road in Utah and force a winner-take-all game on Sunday. The prize? The winner of that game plays the Golden State Warriors in the next round. Earlier in the night the Celtics and Wizards both took care of business and sent home the Bulls and the Hawks respectively. Here’s how it all went down.

You can believe it, the Wizards are good and for real. They showed it on Friday night in a must win Game 6 on the road. Sure, the Wizards could have gone back to Washington D.C. for a Game 7 but that’s not what good teams do. Good teams finish a series when they can and that’s exactly what the Wizards did. The reason the Wizards were so good on Friday night was the same reason they were so good all season — John Wall and Bradley Beal.

I’ve seen people call this a threat. This is not a threat. This is a succinct argument against the baseball tradition of throwing baseballs at hitters. And it’s absolutely correct.

If you want a threat, Machado could have made it a threat. “I’m a gonna come out there with a bat,” would be a great way to start. “If he’s got a ball as his weapon, guess what? I Vintage MLB Jerseys Cheap have a bat” would be another. There are so many ways to turn the blunt object into a specific threat. “Maybe I’ll just have the weapon that’s available to me, then.”

we didn’t expect much from the rebuilding Carolina Hurricanes.

It’s that time of the NHL season where a few fan bases start buying playoff tickets while the rest turn their attention to the NHL playoffs. Elimination is no fun. But it shouldn’t color your whole fandom with tears. Just most of it. Seventy percent of it.

This is the 30 percent: SB Nation NHL Silver Linings, where we send hockey’s eliminated teams into the offseason with five good things to remember from this season.

Once again, we didn’t expect much from the rebuilding Carolina Hurricanes. And once again, the rebuilding Hurricanes flirted with the Eastern Conference wild card race for about two or three months before finally bottoming out.

So, once again, Carolina fans are left without the playoffs but plenty of optimism. Let’s discuss.

There were so many moments that they all blurred together. Massive threes. A crossover that left Markieff Morris on the ground. Clutch free throws late in regulation that tied the game. Those moments are what he lives for and it’s those moments that sustain him through his grief.

“One thing I always try to do is stay in the moment,” Thomas said. “I China Cheap Jerseys always dreamed of moments like this. Winning playoff series, close games, overtime games in the playoffs, because that’s where legends are born. One day I want to be one of those guys.”

What has impressed everyone throughout the season, but especially now, is how Thomas has slowed down in those moments. Gone are the days when he goes 1-of-5 and jacks up whatever shot he could get. Now he reads the actions and understands when he needs to attack and when someone else is open. He plays with an edge but maintains his calm.

Isaiah hasn’t spoken much about his sister publicly

That’s the feeling you get watching your team’s power play trying to wrangle scoring chances against the Hurricanes’ penalty kill. Carolina (84.2 percent) was one of two non-playoffs teams to finish in the top ten in PK percentage this year (Florida was the other).

Why is this so encouraging? Well, they did it with youth. Elias Lindholm, 22, logged 89 minutes on the kill. Joakim Nordstrom, 25, led forwards with 134 minutes. 22-year-old defensemen Jaccob Slavin (255 minutes) and Brett Pesce (177 minutes) logged monster numbers.

Penalty killing is a tough thing to teach. And even if you have a good system, getting young players to commit and excel is even tougher. Carolina already has both down pat, which is a huge strength for a rebuilding franchise.

Isaiah hasn’t spoken much about his sister publicly, and reporters covering the series have kept a respectful distance. With those words, an eerie silence enveloped the makeshift interview room allowing Thomas a respite to compose himself. He wasn’t the only one who needed it.

The moment calls for something profound, but what can you say about something like this? As Thomas told TNT’s David Aldridge after the game, “My sister wouldn’t want me to stop. The only thing about it, once I leave the gym and hit reality, she’s not there.”

It’s the moment that keeps Thomas going through all of this. At times Cheap Team Jerseys on Tuesday, he wasn’t even sure if he could play, with his head throbbing and his heart heavy. But once he arrived at the arena and was around his teammates, he knew he would try. The games have been his temporary escape, and the court has been his sanctuary.

As he’s done so many times this season, Thomas was everything for the Celtics in the fourth quarter. Up until then, the game had belonged to John Wall, who was dazzling in his own right. But then IT took over and everything changed.

James Harden got away with a blatant shove in wild final seconds of Rockets vs. Thunder

The waning moments of Game 4 between the Houston Rockets and Oklahoma City Thunder was a literal comedy of errors, featuring several key blunders by both teams.

But the most egregious mistake was by the referees, who missed this blatant push off by James Harden on Alex Abrines with the Thunder down 111-109:

Even though Russell Westbrook nearly swooped in for what could’ve been a game-saving steal, this was an obvious missed call that proved to be costly for the Thunder.

A correct call here would’ve given the Thunder a chance to tie the game with free throws. Instead, Eric Gordon clinched the game with two free throws of his own, putting the Rockets up 3-1 in the series.

That’s not an idle comparison. The only difference is that when Pillar was 24, he Cheap Soccer Jerseys Free Shipping hit .206 with a million strikeouts, and no Cheap Softball Jerseys one was breathlessly complaining about him being a flop, which is what people like to do with the 23-year-old Buxton. Yes, it’s been a rough start to the season, but let me just put on my cherry-picking gloves and …

… oh, heck yeah, .296/.441/.481 in his last nine games, with a 1:1 strikeout-to-walk ratio. Looks like he’s leveled up, too …

Sure, that’s optimism that’s based in sample-size dust, and it’s probably a little premature, maybe by a year or two or three, and it’s possible that he’ll eventually befriend Joe Borchard on the Island of Misfit Tools. But if the Twins are still in the hunt after the trade deadline, it’s probably because Buxton is hitting just enough to let him transcend the glove-only label. He had a 91 OPS+ last year, so he’s almost there already.

They hired Moneyball executive Paul DePodesta and started stockpiling draft picks

The Browns haven’t struck gold in a way that could help turn the franchise around. Their best draft pick since their return to Cleveland 18 years ago has been Joe Thomas back in 2007. He’s been a Troy Polamalu Cheap Jerseys stalwart at left tackle, starting every game since he’s been drafted, but there have been some terrible picks since then.

In 2012, they missed on Trent Richardson and Brandon Weeden. Two years later, it was Johnny Manziel and Justin Gilbert. And those are just a few of their first-round busts from the past few years. The Browns have been drafting poorly longer than that, wasting high picks on players who quickly flamed out, like Tim Couch, Courtney Brown, and Brady Quinn.

Then last offseason, the Browns changed tactics. They hired Moneyball executive Paul DePodesta and started stockpiling draft picks, taking steps to fix a franchise that has been the laughingstock of the league for two decades now.

Despite the Browns’ previous first-round mistakes, Garrett seems like a bulletproof pick. He won’t help solve their quarterback situation, but he has the potential to become something every NFL team covets: an elite pass rusher. Garrett might be a safe choice, but he could also be that franchise-changing player they’ve been looking for since 1999.

Peppers is one of this year’s most interesting prospects. He brings value US Cheap Jerseys Club and versatility to any roster, but is a long-term project who will require patience before developing into a starter in the secondary. That doesn’t mean he can’t contribute right away — playing under a former NFL head coach has given plenty of examples of how a team can deploy him. The question now is how to balance his role as a full-time safety with the gadget plays that made him so dangerous at Michigan.
