Ujiri is hoping Nurse has what it takes to turn Toronto into the talk of the NBA.

The ninth head coach in Raptors history, Nurse replaces his former boss, Dwane Casey – under whom he spent the past five seasons as a Toronto assistant. Casey was fired after the Raptors were swept out of the second round of this year’s playoffs by Cleveland, their third straight playoff defeat at the hands of LeBron James and the Cavs.

Ujiri called Nurse everything you want in a candidate and said his new coach, the first he has hired as an NBA executive, is someone who thinks the game differently.

He was outstanding, Ujiri said. He really came out on top. Trying new stuff, being innovative, is who Nick is. You can tell he’s a tactician who really thinks the game.

For the coming season, Nurse said he wants to inject more defensive creativity so we can try to be ready for more things in the playoffs.

Rex Kalamian, a Raptors assistant alongside Nurse last season, is expected to join the Los Angeles Clippers, leaving Nurse multiple spots to fill on his staff. Nurse said Thursday he has a good idea of what he’s looking for.

The rest of the league likely agrees.

Cousins signed his contract Friday to join the two-time defending NBA champion Warriors for this coming season, one in which he’ll make $5.3 million. He isn’t sure when his surgically repaired Achilles will allow him to start playing with his new team – being ready for the start wholesale jerseys of training camp seems https://www.buycheapjerseysonline.us.com/ quite doubtful – but he can already envision what might happen when he returns to form.

Of course it’s going to take a lot of hard work, a lot of hard work and dedication, and also a lot of sacrifice from not only myself but other guys on the team as well, Cousins told reporters Friday night at the NBA Summer League. That’s something that we all are aware of and that’s something we accepted already.

When he returns, something he says he won’t do until he’s back to 100 percent, the Warriors could have a starting five composed entirely of 2018 All-Stars – Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson at guard, Kevin Durant and Draymond Green at forward, Cousins at center.

Cleveland has been a graveyard for first-round draft picks, a black hole whose gravity only a handful of players have been able to escape.

The worst enabler of that awful record was a man who got promoted after helping draft Barkevious Mingo No. 6 overall: Ray Farmer.

Farmer wasn’t a general manager for long, but his impact left a crater in an already barren landscape. He contributed to, or made, five first-round picks in three years as an executive in Cleveland. Four of them combined to start 44 games with the Browns — as many as the fifth, nose tackle (and Patriots buy-low trade target) Danny Shelton. None are still on the roster.

Between 2000 and 2014 — allowing the last crop of draftees four seasons to make an impact — 115 players have come into the league as first-round picks and spent just two years or less as NFL starters. Unsurprisingly, no team has had more busts than the Browns, who had seven:

If you expand the scope of our bust data to 2015, you’ll even find an eighth — current Chiefs rotational lineman Cameron Erving. This is a tremendous accomplishment of failure, especially considering 37 percent of those busts were quarterbacks. Cleveland more than doubled the NFL average in draft busts from 2000-2014.

It’s not exactly scathing, but it’s much different than the diplomatic answer NFL players usually give. Even NFL Network’s Michael Irvin — a former player who retired almost 20 years ago and has no reason to hold his tongue — didn’t want to cause any rifts when he gave his opinions of the Top 100. He said that about six of the 16 quarterbacks of the list didn’t deserve to be there, but didn’t want to say any names and step on their moment.

Ramsey doesn’t mind stepping on anyone’s moment.

But hold up, did he just say it wasn’t like Garoppolo was just dicing the Jaguars up? The 49ers won that game, 44-33. It was the most points the usually dominant Jacksonville defense gave up all year. Garoppolo threw two touchdowns and ran in for a third.

It didn’t help that Blake Bortles threw three interceptions — one of which was returned for https://www.nfljerseysfactoryshop.com/ a wholesale jerseys touchdown. But uhh … that’s a lot of dicing.

Aunt Carol isn’t just a former employee — she earned that ring by contributing to the Eagles’ Super Bowl run this offseason. In a profile on Doug Pederson written by Sports Illustrated’s Peter King, the Eagles coach credited the longtime administrative assistant for inspiring the team’s 41-yard flea flicker touchdown pass from Nick Foles to Torrey Smith in the NFC Championship.

Andrew Luck expected to begin practicing this week

Indianapolis Colts quarterback Andrew Luck is expected to begin practicing as early as this week, a major step toward his eventual return to the playing field, according to sources familiar with Luck’s rehabilitation from shoulder surgery in mid-January.

Sources say Luck will likely require a three-to-four weeks of preparation for his first start of 2017 and project his return by week 7 against the Jacksonville Jaguars, barring any setbacks.

“I guess you could say it looked like that,” Elliott said, per Pro Football Talk, in his first public response on the matter. “I would say I was just very frustrated, but that’s no excuse for the lack of effort I showed on tape. I just can’t do that. Being one of the leaders on the team and being a guy that people count on, I can’t put that type of stuff on film.”

Tomlinson also didn’t like Elliott’s sulking body language on the Cowboys bench on Sunday, when the second-year back posted the worst game so far of his NFL career, rushing for only eight yards on nine carries.

“It’s definitely not me,” Elliott said of the performance and attitude he displayed in Denver. “It’s definitely not the type of player I am. It’s definitely not who I Wholesale Jerseys am for this team. I just can’t do that. I was frustrated, and I wasn’t myself.”

At least Elliott acknowledged where he went wrong and did his best to put Wholesale MLB Jerseys the issue to rest as the Cowboys prepare to visit the Cardinals on Monday night.

Justice Dept. drops fight against Redskins’ trademark

In the wake of a Supreme Court ruling earlier this month, the Department of Justice is dropping its fight to cancel the trademark for the NFL’s team in Washington, D.C.

The Supreme Court ruled June 19 that federal trademarks of terms some consider derogatory are covered by the First Amendment, a decision that clears the way for the Washington Redskins Wholesale Jerseys to get back trademarks that were canceled in 2014 after complaints by Native Americans.

The ruling came in a case involving an Asian-American rock band called “The Slants” in the case Matal, interim director, United States Patent and Trademark Office vs. Tam.

The Knicks and Jackson decided on Tuesday to separate after three seasons and his 80-166 record as the man in charge of basketball decisions for the franchise.

Calipari previously coached the New Jersey Nets under difficult ownership. He has told SN in the past his one regret about accepting that job was the challenge of dealing with a team that had multiple owners and was trying to position itself for a sale. Knicks owner James Dolan has been routinely criticized for his handling of the franchise.

Calipari was elected to the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2015. He has coached in six Final Fours and led UK to the 2012 NCAA Championship. Eight of his past dozen teams have passed the 30-win mark.

The Kentucky team he will coach this fall will be the youngest in his 26 seasons as a college head coach. The most experienced returning player for the Wildcats, forward Wenyen Gabriel, averaged 18 minutes a game as a freshman. But UK will be loaded with five star talent, including incoming Wholesale Jerseys Paypal freshman Kevin Knox, a forward, and point guard Quade Green.
